About Our Taiwan Incense Cedar Essential Oil
The essential oil of Calocedrus formosana var. macrolepsis, or Taiwan Incense Cedar is a most precious, Far Eastern sacred fragrance that has antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. This stirring aroma, arising from the virgin forests of central Taiwan, is complex and deep and, driven by a symphony of sesquiterpenes similar to those in Agarwood, and shows incredible tenacity.
Why is this Oil Rare
The tree has a very limited native range of less than 5000 square kilometer, which makes the oil quite rare. It is highly esteemed for its valuable wood, which is used, as lore has it, in construction of temples. In modern Aromatherapy Taiwan Incense Cedar is one of the true rarities, distilled in small batches in the virgin forests of central Taiwan. There is no apparent industrial production of this oil.
Unique Fragrance
The essential oil of Taiwan Incense Cedar presents a Far Eastern sacred fragrance to which traditionally antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-fungal properties are attributed. This stirring aroma is complex and deep, driven by a symphony of sesquiterpenes, reminiscent to those in Agarwood, giving the fragrance an ideal meditative character. It is especially attractive for all those for whom the raw intensity of Agarwood might be a bit overpowering and who look for deep exotic wood nuances between Sandalwood, Benihi and Hinoki.
Aromatic Notes
Complex, smokey, deep, driven by a symphony of sesquiterpenes similar to those in Agarwood.
