Preparing the wood is a cumbersome, drawn-out process, and distillation also requires many hours per batch and large amounts of steam. In the recent past, export of Sandalwood oil has been inhibited by some countries of origin to protect their natural resources. So for a number of years we have not been able to purchase our beloved original Sandalwood from Sri Lanka.
