With Galbanum EO, distilled from the gum resin of Ferula gummosa the exciting chemistry happens in the broad variety of trace components. There are a number of highly unusual thio (sulfur) derivatives such as butane thionate compounds, and unusual nitrogen components such as 2-methoxy-3-isobutylpyrazine. Togehther with musk like Phtalides such as Methyl-cyclo-pentdecanolide they make for the unmistakeable fragrance which is not quite like musk, but similarily exalting. Indispensable for green fragrance compositions.
