About Our Organic Lavender Fine Essential Oil

Population Lavender. 2020 Harvest! This oil combines an effervescent freshness with a noticeable coumarin note. "Lavander Fine", in the language of the growers in Provence, is understood to be the Lavender. It is distilled from populations grown from seeds of Lavandula angustifolia, and has a fine, most complex yet elegantly gentle note. Not too long ago, only 20 tons of true population Lavandula angustifolia oil were produced annually in France. In the last ten years, it has further declined and in 2012 the total production of population Lavender was around 8 tons, although it increased slightly in 2015. Very confusingly, liter pricing of Fine Lavender in the market makes little sense: many companies offer Fine Lavender at a price below that of Lavender Maillette (a clonal variety) on the same price list. This is definitely an indication that the importer is not clear about the concept of Fine (respectively population) Lavender. It is puzzling how the price of Fine Lavender can be under $100 for 1000 ml (1 liter) when the price at the source is pushing 300 euros! The Lavender OSA offers can rightfully be considered the standard of true population Lavender, AOP certified.
